The adult Black community is 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems
Black and African-Americans’ hold beliefs related to stigma, psychological openness, and help-seeking, which in turn affects their coping behaviors
Only 1 in 3 African-Americans who need help are willing to actually receive it
Black and African-American people living below poverty are twice as likely to report serious psychological distress than those living over 2x the poverty level
About 25% of Black people seek mental care compared to 40% of white people
Black and African-American adults are more likely to have feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and worthlessness than white adults
